Buddhist institutions in Bhutan have been playing a critical role in enhancing spiritual awareness for societal wellbeing. The communities in and around Tamshing monastery such as Tamshing, Kenchogsum, Kharsum, Tekarshong, Dorjibi, Pangrey, and new settlers at Rerebey have been fortunate to have a local Buddhist institute like Tamshing Monastery, which over the years has woven intricate bondage with the local community. In fact, the bond could be traced back to the days of foremost Bhutanese saint terton Pema Lingpa in the mid-fifteen century.
Further cementing the relationship, the locals this year were excited to welcome retreat practitioners after ending more than a month-long summer retreat - Yarney, in September 2021. The practitioners visited all neighboring villages and trekked along the ancient trails making prayers and tshog offerings at historically significant sites of terton Pema Lingpa.
The feeling of spiritual satisfaction and moral comfort among the community is priceless! The community would like to thank the organizers - Pema Lingpa Foundation, Shedra, Lobdra & of course we shall always remain indebted to Lhalung Sungtruel Rinpoche & Lama Tsheten.
